Embarking on a journey of self-development and happiness can be incredibly rewarding. In my journaling journey, I’ve found that by writing something that speaks to me at the top of each page, my days get brighter, and my mind expands to take in new possibilities. It also works great at the top of my day planners! What’s better for this than Inspirational Quotes from the best of the best!?
Inspirational quotes can serve as powerful reminders and motivators along the way. For the next 30 days, start each day with a quote and reflect on it in a journal entry. Write about your thoughts, feelings, and how the quote resonates with your life. Hopefully joy will follow suit.

finding your inspirational path.
“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”
Day 1: Journal Entry- Reflect on how you can add value to the lives of those around you, and the value you hold for yourself.
Joy begins with your own sense of self, finding your value in yourself and your relationships can give you a foundation to grow that happiness from.
A motivational quote to start your day.
“Keep your face always toward the sunshine—and shadows will fall behind you.”
Day 2: Journal Entry- Write about how you can maintain a positive outlook, even in challenging times.
Remind yourself that living in the past, and that dwelling on limiting beliefs and negativity can negatively affect your vibrations. Happiness fosters in the here and now.
“The future depends on what you do today.”
Day 3: Journal Entry- Consider what actions you can take today to create a better future.
Joy is completely dependent on your mindset. The world was made for you. Make an inspirational choice today that will benefit your tomorrow.
Uplift your path in life.
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
— Mahatma Gandhi
Day 4: Journal Entry- Write about something new you want to learn and why it inspires and excites you.
Another inspirational 5-star Gandhi quote with a twist: “tomorrow isn’t promised.” I take “learning something new every day” very seriously, but make sure to celebrate even the smallest lessons.🩵
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
— Mahatma Gandhi
Day 5: Journal Entry- Write about someone you need to forgive and how it could liberate you.
I’m not going to lie, forgiveness is still a hard one for me. I’ve let go, I’ve moved on, but I cannot seem to find “forgiveness” for some of the things that some people have done. That being said, I keep quotes like this around. I am working on breaking down the walls that I may be having a little bit of a hard time with. If you’re like me, I want you to know that you’re not alone. Perhaps you’ve managed to shed yourself of the tough things and were able to find forgiveness, I’d like to know what your turning point was. After all, we’re in this together.
embracing your inspirational journey.
“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”
Day 6: Journal Entry – Write about a goal you’re pursuing and how you can stay persistent. Include inspirational strategies and thoughts to keep yourself motivated.
Self-discipline is key here, and starting small is the ultimate way to remain happy throughout pursuing a goal.
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.“
Day 7: Journal Entry- Write about your biggest dreams and the first steps you’ll take to achieve them.
This is such a “cliché” quote, but honestly- easily one of my favorites. You’ll hear me say it to my 3 year old, to my friends, and to stranger. I also believe there’s a path designed for you, and maybe, among the stars, is where you belong.
inspirational quotes can boost your day!
“The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it.”
Day 8: Journal Entry- Write about how you can be more mindful and attentive in your daily life.
Another inspirational quote about being present and enjoying the here and now. Practicing gratitude will unequivocally prove that good things are EVERYWHERE!
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”
Day 9: Journal Entry- Reflect on what you believe your gift is and how you can share it with others.
This quote holds endless meanings to me, and I could honestly probably write an entire article on it alone- but I’ll keep it short and simple… ish. I have OCD and ADHD- I have survived much of my life by masking, people pleasing, and questioning myself. Once I began my journey of self-development, diving head first, I realized I was meant to share my mindframe, and hope to help other people see their good in their day-to-day. Take a moment to explore yourself, if you aren’t already familiar with what your gift is. Write down everything that gives you that “fire” in your belly- and see where your imagination might take you.
creating an inspirational mindset.
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
Day 10: Journal Entry- Reflect on acts of kindness you’ve experienced or given and their impact.
I encourage you to delete the mindframe that often circles us stating: “But I was so nice to them.” Or “That’s the last time I’ll help them out,” etc. What goes around, comes around, and although you do not deserve to be taken advantage of, kindness will always be returned to you in one way or another.
“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.”
— Aesop
Day 11: Journal Entry – List three things you are grateful for today and why. Reflect on the inspirational impact each has on your life.
Another one from Aesop, and another one of my favorites. Gratitude is SUCH a powerful thing to conquer, and I’ve gotten to a place where I can find it anywhere.
finding your inspirational potential.
“Fall seven times, stand up eight.”
Day 13: Journal Entry- Write about a setback you’ve faced and how you overcame it.
This is another inspirational quote that I am simply OBSESSED with. In only six words- it speaks so deeply to my soul and sparks wherever it was lacking.
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
Day 14: Journal Entry- Identify a new goal or dream you’d like to pursue, regardless of age.
It’s silly to think that at *only* 31 years old, I think that this quote is relevant. But do you know how many times I’ve said, “I’m too old for ___________” school, starting a new career path, starting new relationships, etc. I mean- if I’m fortunate, I’ll live until I’m 90 or so, and that’s a lot of years left to limit myself of “not having enough time.”
inspire personal growth.
“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”
Day 15: Journal Entry- Reflect on how self-belief can empower you to achieve your goals.
Have you ever heard of “self-limiting beliefs?” If you limit your self-talk to convincing you cannot do the thing, you’re less likely to do the thing.
find your inspirational purpose.
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”
Day 16: Journal Entry- Write about what you’ve learned about yourself recently and how it has impacted you.
When I tell you this quote just hits me right in the FEELS- do I ever mean it. Sometimes you just don’t know who you are. And that’s okay- because it’s time to now find yourself. When I finally started becoming my own person, the universe opened up for me. I’m so fortunate to now have the ability to show my child how to know, love, and accept herself for the way that she is.
“Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.”
Day 17: Journal Entry- Reflect on the joy you find in the process of pursuing your goals.
When I say you HAVE to enjoy the journey, not JUST the destination, I mean it! You won’t believe the joy and wisdom rhat comes from being present, grateful, and by celebrating the small stuff! This inspirational mindset has been one of the ‘pivot moments’ of my life journey.
“Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.”
Day 18: Journal Entry- Reflect on actions you can take to create happiness in your life today.
I heard once that Happiness is a side-effect, and I’ve never thought of happiness in any other way since.
discover your motivational spark.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”
— Lao Tzu
Day 19: Journal Entry- Identify the first step you can take toward a long-term goal.
If you’ve read some of my other posts, you’ve likely noticed a trend in the fact I encourage everyone to celebrate the small wins in their every day. And I really mean the smallest of wins. You got out of bed? Showered? Brushed your teeth? You didn’t sleep through your alarm? Made it on time to work? CELEBRATE. IT.
“The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it.”
Day 20: Journal Entry- Write about how you can be more mindful and attentive in your daily life.
So you might notice that many of these quotes lead towards a similar path. Words that may make your eyes roll like “wellness, gratitude, positivity,” lighten up the screen. There is so many other descriptions to define these words, and one of them will certainly integrate itself within your soul if you allow it. It will then change your life.
Find personal growth with this quote: “Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul.”
Day 21: Journal Entry- Write about what gives you hope and how it inspires you.
I am not neuro-typical, so generally analogies in these contexts don’t ‘hit home,’ but this one does.
“Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.”
Day 22: Journal Entry- Write about moments where you can choose joy in your daily life.
We attract what we put out into the world. If we consistently give joy, find joy in the small places, and choose the things that bring us joy, what else is there to visit us other than joy!?
Find empowerment.
“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
Day 23: Journal Entry- Describe the person you aspire to be and the steps to get there.
I’m a strong believer in the fact that there is a path set out for you. I believe that if you quiet your mind, then your intuition- your guts, would lead you to fulfill your purpose.
find your inspirational source of joy.
“What we think, we become.”
— Buddha
Day 24: Journal Entry- Consider your current thoughts and how they shape your life.
This ties back into limiting beliefs and manifestation. Training or re-parenting your mind can often foster inspirational thoughts that can begin shaping your mindset to welcome all the good that the world has to offer.
uplift yourself.
“Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.”
Day 25: Journal Entry- Reflect on a time when you showed resilience and what you learned from it.
Let’s face it. Life is tough. I’ve been through a lot. Over and over again, I felt like life was dragging me through the mud. It wasn’t my fault either – and I’m not playing the victim when I say that. I was raised by adults who drilled into my mind all the limiting beliefs that are built into how I perceived myself and the world around me as I became an adult, and into adulthood! Once I allowed myself to think things were good, and more so, things were GOING TO BE good… Good things started happening.
“To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.”
Day 26: Journal Entry- Write about ways you can show more love and compassion to yourself.
I find this quote absolutely beautiful. To me, it resonates so hard. After 30 years of life, I can confidently say that I love myself, that I am worthy of love from others, and that I don’t need the validation from others to know it.
Find fullfillment with this quote: “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
Day 27: Journal Entry- Write about the future you want to create and the steps you’ll take to achieve it.
Now, I’m not sure what our Dear Peter meant by this, but I take this as a quote rooted in manifestation. Oof- “manifestation,” another one of those words that used to make me ICK. It’s also one of the words that I now use in my day-to-day as it truly holds so much value, and isn’t anything to roll your eyes at.
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
Day 28: Journal Entry- Write about how you can be more authentic in your daily life.
Authenticity is such a strong trait, especially in a world full of influencers, peer pressure, and celebrities covering our screens. If you can find just one inspirational that fills you with pure joy and excitement, you can use that to lead you toward your most authentic self.
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
— Leonardo da Vinci
Day 29: Journal Entry- Reflect on how you can simplify your life to increase your happiness
Ahhh, simplicity. I’ve never lived a fuller life than when I started following a saying I heard once: “Be thankful for what you HAVE.” What a wild concept to me. But what about all of the things that I DON’T have? All the things that I WANT? What about the next step, the bigger picture, the chase for the desired outcome? Well, turns out, it really can be simpler. I checked myself, started practicing gratitude. Then I realized that abundance didn’t always come in the way of money in a bank account after working 8-4:30, Monday to Friday. There WAS joy in the simpler things, and the simpler things were all around me. I was abundant in them, and it’s made me feel my highest self.
“Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm, and harmony.”
Day 30: Journal Entry- Reflect on areas of your life that need more balance and how you can achieve it.
“Balance.” What a concept. this word has definitely been a topic in all my New Year’s Resolutions lists since I was about 19 years old. It’s something I’m finding, and something that is helping me feel the after effect. Happiness.
cultivating your empowering vision.
“Patience is not simply the ability to wait—it’s how we behave while we’re waiting.”
Day 31: Journal Entry- Reflect on how you can practice patience in a current situation.
You’ve certainly heard it before, “patience is a virtue,” and, well, they’re not wrong. Patience can inevitably provide you with happiness. Be sure to take a moment to recognize how powerful a tool it can be.
Conclusion
Each of these quotes offers a unique perspective on happiness, self-development, and the journey of life.
